I need emotional support on dealing with PMR and/or GCA from people with experience and knowledge of these illnesses. Agree/disagree?

Theses people are more likely to be able to give you the practical support that the medics just don't have the time to give (though maybe many would like to give?).

The reason for Support Groups existence is that Consultants and GPs only have limited time on offer.

We have found that Consultants have been very pleased to recommend their new patients to the local support groups.

Some Consultants even come to meetings at least once a year and encourage other medical people, ie Dieticians, Physiotherapists etc to come and give talks and advice.

The NHS cannot provide everything, we have to help our selves to gain knowledge to manage our

illnesses in conjunction with our medics. Knowledge is Power.

It's really helpful to know about those who really understand. The encouragement is so important

Every individual experiences different side effects from meds or the disorder. I want to learn all there is so I can relate/accept the side effects, etc.
