I’ve still not received my letter. Do the letters give any help re booking on-line food delivery, eg code number. I will be 85 in July, widow living alone, and having great difficulty getting deliveries.

Hello

The letter is a very general information letter, which basically tells you what we have seen many times before.

Stay at home at all times and avoid all face-to-face contact for at least twelve weeks.

If you have a family and friends support network use them, if not register on the above gov.uk website mentioned by Fiona

If you develop symptoms call 111

Make sure you have enough medications, the government is helping pharmacies deliver prescriptions

Look after your mental well-being

Exercise

Eat healthily

Spend time with windows open and get natural sunlight when you can or sit in garden if you have one

There isn't anything in the letter that is anymore than we can find on the news and other programmes about the virus.

I hope you manage to organise a delivery booking slot. A lot of the supermarkets are not taking on new customers, but if you already use a particular shop for on-line deliveries you can register with them as being over age 70 and you will be put onto their vulnerable list. This may take some time to get through and several attempts.

If you have no success the second letter I got says, 'please do not hesitate to contact your local council directly if you need further assistance', as they have things in place for people who are having difficulty. I imagine this may also take some time to get through, but keep trying until you get through.

Best of luck and stay safe.

Thanks, yes very basic information, as we’ve been doing for several weeks! I’m now getting help from local group when needed. Don’t give up, wartime fighting spirit is back. Good luck, stay safe and well.

Hey there,

Do register on the site that was provided. I did but I also contacted my GP who got letter sorted for me. Plus supermarkets like Sainsbury’s had access to those on the list who needed help and has been a godsend for me as I was struggling with online shopping.

While this was being sorted I did contact my local MP and spoke to his manager who was very kind and not only gave me link to register with gov but also to local authority volunteer groups to help with exactly this. So please if you have no luck with gov or supermarket try your MP. Email them. Worked for me.
