How long before twitching stops.

Hi it's been a while since I posted as I thought I would spend all my time getting better. I started loa ding doses 19th November 2015 and decided to self inject every other day because of horrendous symptoms. I could feel my body shutting down and I was crawling about due to chronic weakness. Most of my symptoms have disappeared but I still have muscle atrophy and twitches, fatigue and migraines only sometimes. I've been injecting for 4 months and I would like to know if I should still be having twitching after this long. I have been a very keen fitness fanatic but if I try to exercise my muscles can't take it which is obviously why I have some atrophy I suppose. Is it normal to still lag after 4 months of every other day injections? Epson salts bath 4 times a week and I keep potassium up with orange juice daily.

I live in hope.

I also forgot to mention I was injecting hydrocobalim but switched to methylcobalamin two weeks ago. I have just ordered vit d drops and k2 and multivitamin. I have since found out I have been deficient for 14yrs with folate 2.9 and b12 211. I was deficient while pregnant with my son and I have never been given treatment. It took a change of gp after I was refused injections when my levels came back at 146. I also have 6 discs in spine prolapsed and spinal stenosis. They have just done nerve conduction studies and want me to see a neurologist. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Yes, you should be getting better but don't despair - it takes a long time.

I doubt that the orange juice is providing enough potassium.  You will need to eat and drink LOTS of things with high potassium every day and may have to use LoSalt, available from Co-op stores, in addition, to get enough.

Try other things to get more magnesium too.

If you are needing that much B12 you will need more cofactors to metabolise it and if you don't get enough of these it won't work efficiently to repair the damage you sustained while you were deficient.

Have you tried methylfolate?

I suggest you look up my profile and see my post "My Experiences" to get some ideas.

I'm doing better again so it's working for me!

Go for it: try things carefully and monitor your symptoms - you have nothing to lose!

Thanks for the reply. I was doing well so I tried reducing the frequency of injections and it's thrown me backwards. Think I set my stall to high and expected miracles. I have a look at your posts.

Have you had your electrolytes tested by your GP?  Low electrolytes cause muscle twitches, as well as other symptoms that are similar to b12 deficiency such as fatigue, anxiety, palpitations and nausea.

Yes i've had electrolytes done and all normal. It's a waiting game I suppose. Thanks for the reply.
