Azilect, swelling ankles.

I was diagnosed with PD on 6/3/14. I started with 1tab; carbidopa/levodopa 25/100 increased to 1-1/2 tabs 3 times a day about 6 months ago. Azilect has been added @ 1 1mg tab aday. Azilect has changed my life, I feel great, no more cane and I feel better overall, but my ankles are swelling. Will this present a problem down the road.

A few months later and the swelling seems to have stopped.

azilect can cause feet to swell. Check with your Doctor to rule out any other cause. Just to be safe.

Good RX

Go to Azilect.com & apply for assistance. I get mine for free. You must make less than $80,000 household adjusted gross income, if memory is correct.

Thanks, I certainly feel much better. Some swelling of my ankles and feet, I've also started taking naps. Haven't had a nap since kindergarten. I have already started the paperwork and should be just below the $ amount.

A common side effect of lots of these meds unfortunately! My legs are very swollen on Miraoex for RLS which I am trying to withdraw from, now that I am on Sinemet CR.

We have found that swollen ankles and legs comes wham the system is overloaded and in the past have gotten relief from lymph massage. Since don is now on a bunch of cardio meds for a recent heart failure, he is experiencing this again. Blood pressure meds cause him to get swollen ankles and legs but he has to take it. We have a lymph massage on Thursday so will keep you posted. My own experience is that one starts with keeping the fluid from building up such as limiting carbs which hold fluids. We use electrolytes (Purecaps) everyday and that can't hurt. There are also home leggings which inflate and move the edema up the legs. Can all the stuff used for heart be used for your problem? Like compression socks? The edema in heart cases has to be moved up and reabsorbed and eventually dumped. Couldn't hurt to try as they are all good.
