Hi, do I have chemo straight after a ... - Pancreatic Cancer...
Hi, do I have chemo straight after a wipple opp. Thanks
Hi
I did not have to have any chemo after my whipple operation. I think it depends on the pathology results from the tumour once it is removed.
Good Luck. xx
I didn't need chemo as my tumour was benign but that was only discovered after the histology report. They don't start chemo until at least 6 weeks after the whipple and only if you're feeling okay at the time. Good luck for Monday - it will all be fine - let us know how it all goes and if you need any help....in which hospital are you having the op?? - best wishes Linda.
Hi Linda.
I had a pseudopapillary tumour of the pancreas. When I was operated I they did not know what they were going to find, and I went in to the operating theatre not knowing what could be done. When I woke up I was told that I had a whipple procedure. Like you mine was 18 months ago. I lost a stone in weight which I have kept off. My only changes is that I have to eat smaller portions than before, as I get full up much more quickly. Plus my sweet tooth has disappeared.

I would have chemo and radio... Have it all as its the best way of ensuring you survive after the whipple... Good luck and be positive.... Don't wait as time is everything.

Thanks for the support I feel a lot better now, fingers crossed I will be ok .
Hi Shelly I had my op 6 weeks ago as I had a t3 tumour on my pancreas I'm having chemo in a few weeks and I'm nervous! But I wanted to reassure you that apart from the pain of a major op the pain is well controlled with drugs. After 6 weeks i get my days where I'm overly tired and I also have a few cramps every day, apart from that I'm virtually back to normal. Good luck with the op and my advice as soon as your able prob after your stay in ICU walk walk walk! Up corridors down corridors anywhere apart from stairs. 😊
My husband was told straight after his op that they were 99% sure he wouldnt need chemo . Its was at his follow up appointment that biopsy tests showed spread to 5 lymph nodes , therefore his chemo of 5FU began 2 weeks after that , No radio was offered .
Good Luck x
Will they take some Nodes from me when they do the Whipple of me? I have a benign pancreatic tumor in the head that is 3.1 cm. I have an IPMN.
