My first appointment under the NHS was yesterday morning after seeing a consultant privately last December. For the first time ever I have attended an appointment, had tests and walked out with a diagnosis.
Last October I experienced what I thought was sciatica. The pain down my lege was incredible, complete with pins and needles, burning and numbness in my foot.
Since October I've regained some strength back in my leg but it still has some improving to do. The pain I can manage but my foot is still a bit numb.
Yesterday I had nerve and muscle conduction tests which resulted in a diagnosis of what the consultant thought was Inflammatory Lumbosacral Plexopathy. I thought he'd just made that up to tell me something and send me on my way but no. It is actually googleable lol.
He isn't sure what's caused it but maybe linked to an autoimmune condition but one good thing is because it's getting better it isn't cancer 😊
