Thank you....results tomorrow morning!

Hi Florence,

You have to learn the art of being 'in the moment'. Once you have looked to your diet, stress and physical and mental health (as I know you do), you need to find a way that works for you of recognising that you have done all you can, and that now you need to set aside your fears and do something else.

For some people, this can involve visualising all your fear about cancer as an object, picking it up and shutting it in a box or a cupboard, and walking away to concentrate on something else. This gives the' worry' part of you the information that it is being taken seriously, but set aside just for now.

There are many ways for many people - but my experience of working as a therapist tells me that anxiety expands within us because we fear that we are helpless - so doing something with the fear helps many of us.

An added benefit is that this process also allows a calmer voice within to gain a little more control each time.

There are other approaches, too - but this is one that I've known many people to benefit from. Good luck with the scan.

Very best wishes,

Isadora.

Hi Florance,

I am in the same boat as you, raised ca125(93) & getting last Wednesday's scan results tomorrow.

I know it's back-only 3 months since I finished treatment & tomorrow I find out how bad it is.

Staying calm is hard but I find that the not knowing is the worst.

At least tomorrow what ever happens we can then start moving forward & start focussing again on beating this horrible disease.

UCLH

Good luck to you too!

I think I just have a calm acceptance that whatever it is, i can't go back, so have to accept it and take what life throws at me to control it and make it work again. I now recognise when it is bad anyway, so it is just confirmation of what my body is telling me.

Good luck to everybody waiting for results, but it is not worth stressing, you can't do anything about it now!

love n hugs

Viv

Hi again, How did the results go ? X

There was bad news and good news but overall I think its encouraging. The bad news is that I still have cancers cells on the surface of my abdomen and my lymph nodes are enlarged and showing evidence of disease but the good news is that comparing it with the scan I had at the start of chemotherapy is there there has been no new growth or spread of cancer. I won't be having any more chemotherapy for now but will be closely monitored. They were very clear that I wasn't in remission but that my cancer appeared to be under control and could remain dormant for some time - I'm slightly unusual that I have a low grade cancer which doesn't respond well to chemotherapy. I feel relieved not to be having more chemo but a bit flat because I still have to live with the uncertainty. I also think all my reserves went on getting me through diagnosis and chemo.

ScardyCat 40, Sounds good to me that its dormant,I think we all live with the uncertainty of this type of cancer,so hope you feel well and can enjoy this Christmas. Love Sue x

Hi,

Mine's back aswell & I am also starting chemo on monday.....Cisplatin iv & oral Etoposide for me,too soon to go back on carbo & taxol again.

Had a rough few days getting my head around it but ready for the fight now. At least this time round we kind of know what to expect in relation to side effects.......planning a big spicy Indian on Sunday night before the taste buds change.

Best of luck Florance
