I take evening primrose for the hot flushes, I am lucky enough not to have mood swings, so I don't know how effective it is on those. I also sleep with a small towel over my pillow, as I can wake up dripping! This means at least I don't end up with an uncomfortable pillow!

There are other remedies if this doesn't work!

Good luck

Chris

Hi there ,

During my menopause before OC I took Red Clover and Sage both in tablet form plus Evening Primrose but had been taking that for a long while .

I would check first to see if you could take the Red Clover and Sage .There are pillows called chillows to help keep you cool at night .

One of our TA's at school used to place a large towel over her sheet to absorb the sweat ..save changing the sheets at night ....

Not sure about what you could take for the mood swings .

Do so hope things improve for you xxx

hi. im only 38 and after my hysterectomy last august i have suffered the same as you.. i like the other ladies take evening primrose but you need ti take a pure form of this. i use effamol you can buy it in boots. it does help a little with the mood. but nit i find for hot flushes or night sweats. for this i saw my doctor who tried HRT but i wasnt suiting me. made me feel lousy so now i take a tablet called clonidine. and although i have the odd flush my night sweats are almost gone. i dont wake up wet through like i used too.. i hop you find something to help you soon. as i know its awful...

lots of love

Dear Louise

It might be worth seeing your doctor as you're having mood swings which I'm guessing are caused by a temporary hormone imbalance. I tried some vitamin and mineral tablets specifically for the Menopause available from Boots. At least that felt as though I was taking some action to help with the situation.

I'm lucky to sleep well so wasn't aware much of night flushes though my husband said I'd be dripping wet sometimes. I'd just wake up when it was all over and I would be freezing because I'd flung all the covers off. I'd turn my pillow over so it was nice and cool and helped me get back to sleep.

I hope you're feeling more stable very soon. Let us know how you're getting on.

Thanks ladies for your suggestions. I am hoping this is a short term thing. The consultant said that sometimes when one ovary is removed the other might sleep for a while. X

I have found a magnet called 'Ladycare' from Boots is very helpful, although others have said it can disturb body systems. Have a look under the search box at the top of the page, type in Ladycare or magnet, to see what others have said. I take clonidine too, and I think it helps. I know that, if I leave my magic magnet off, I feel worse. However, I don't have mood swings, just flushes. One of my friends Baugh a pillow called a Chillow from an Internet site and she swears by it. Hope one of these suggestions is helpful!
