Has anyone experienced swelling of the leg and foot after removal of an abdominal lymph node?

My daughter had abdominal lymph nodes removed and had to wear surgical stockings for six months. You need to see your GP asap if you have swelling as you may have an infection. Swelling is never a good sign.
Hi Amanda
I find my ankles and feet swell up very easily since my op last August when I had lymph nodes removed from abdomen and groin. The swelling tends to go down again overnight, but I only have to be on my feet for a short while ie cooking the dinner or something and they're up again, not very nice, but then what is about this horrible disease.
I would check it out with the doc just to be on the safe side though.
All the best

Hi Amanda
I agree with everyone else to check with your doctor to put your mind at rest and to rule out anything more sinister like a blood clot. In any case the doctor may be able to provide you with some support stockings to help alleviate the symptoms.
Good Luck
Sue
Thank you for your advice.
I had my first 3 month check today, after finishing chemo in February and all appears to be ok so far. I am still waiting for my CA125 result though.
I have spoken to my GP with regard to the swelling in my legs and have been referred to the Lymphodema Clinic.
I Had my leg scanned a few weeks ago to rule out a blood clot.
Just need to find out how to best take care of my leg to avoid any complications in the future.
Its not easy to find the time to elevate my leg as I am back at work now (part time) and have 2 of my 4 children at home, youngest being 6, so I have plenty to keep me on the move.
I find when I get up in the morning the swelling has gone down but by the time I go out the door in the morning it has started swelling again.

I swoll all over and they kept telling me it was because i had no lymphonic system because my glands had been removed after 2 months I was swelling and eventually was a size 20 and was bedridden,My husband insisted that they admitted me to see what was wrong because by this stage i could hardly breathe. It was then discovered that after my operation in january i had developed bacterial pneumonia and i had actually been in heart failure for 2months!ahealthy heart is at 60 and mine was 10.the bacteria from the pneumonia had invaded my heart and damaged left ventricle so am now on heart medication for life on top of every thing else. They had me on nebulizers and kept telling me it was fluid on the lungs when all the time it was because of the heart damage the heart wasnt pumping fluid out and it was leaking into my lungs. The sad bit is I was first diaognosed 1c but because of fluid in lung they kept cancelling chemo and 66wks. later they scanned me and it was spread to pelvis and I then became a 3c!and my cancer was terminal.I couldnt believe all those experts got it so wrong and I have had to pay the price for their mistakes.I am nowon 3rd. line chemo in just 2 and a half years. So I advice everyone if you are not happy insist on tests as we might not know what is wrong but we know when our bodies are not right.
I havn't had my lymph nodes removed but apparently the pressure from my abdomen is causing my lymph nodes not to work as efficiently as they should, my leg was like a balloon. My GP refered me to my local lymphodaemia clinic, who were fab1 I now have to wear special stockings, my leg is now back to normal. I would defnietly seek advice from ur GP or oncologist, just to rule out other possibilities such as a blood clot, heart failure, etc hope you get sorted xx
Hi, Thank you for your comments
I have been referred by my GP to a lymphodaemia clinic on Thursday.
