hi all my mums just finished frontline treatment and is doing well - apart from some neuropathy that seems to be getting worse in the cold. I wondered if you had any ways to manage it / any tips and tricks?
thanks in advance xx

Hi so glad to hear your mum is doing well.
I’ve had neuropathy for 2 years since my very first infusion in fact.
The way I try to cope with it is always wear slippers whether it’s hot or cold. Also if it’s particularly bad I rub my feet with Vapor rub and put socks on at night.
I did try Gabapentin but it did nothing but I do take 150mg of pyridoxine B6 daily.
It’s definitely worse in the cold weather for me so I try to keep my hands and feet warm at all times. It does give me balance issues too, but if I can see my toes I feel I can feel them too so this time of year is worse because toes are covered up.
I do hope your mum’s neuropathy improves. Unfortunately mine hasn’t but I think I’ve just been unlucky.
Best wishes Jen xx

We can also send out paper copies if you prefer.
I hope this is useful for your mum. If there's anything we can help with please do get in touch. You can direct message through this forum, email support@ovacome.org.uk or call us on 0800 008 7054 Monday-Friday 10am-5pm.

Aww Neurophathy is rubbish . I take pengabalon and it's helped me so much, Hope you find what works for you 😊
I put my feet in warm water(I cool warmwood in the boiled water for a while) and add my feet bath basin, and put feet in for 15 mins every night, and it helps a lot. This is Chinese medicine. You can find warmwood from any Chinese medicine shop.
I am not sure that I have good answer but In my experience recovery from neuropathy takes time. I am almost 73 and It’s been almost 3 years since I first had it and I have been left with neuropathy in the toes on my right foot. As already said I try to keep my feet warm. I wear comfortable shoes ( lacing my boots and trainers too tightly seem to make it worse) It was hard to begin with but I do walk between 5000 and 10,000 steps every day. Sending best wishes to your Mum🙏
Neuropathy symptoms differ from person to person. This has bugged me for months, even after I have fnished treatment. Some days it feels like I've got sand in my shoes, Other days (and nights) there are sharp shooting pains in y toes and heels. Often a couple of toes feel completely numb. I never go without socks. I don't wear tight shoes. I use a heat bag whenever I sit down and I elevate my feet. Just helps bit, some days better than others.
