Questions
When my hubby and I met with my Consultant, like you, we were both in shock and we didn't have many questions to ask, as it was all so new to us. Thankfully, he was a lovely man who explained everything to us in an easy to understand manner. As he was very clear in his explanation and so positive and encouraging we just took it all in and felt very reassured that I was in good hands. When we left the hospital later that day (they did all the pre-op stuff there and then) I'm not exaggerating but I literally skipped out of there. Why ? Because I had a plan and a date and, for the first time in weeks I felt reassured. I hope it goes well for you tomorrow, everything crossed for you, love Kerry xx
The main thing I would say is if you don’t understand anything that is said then ask them to repeat it or re-explain it, don’t worry if his/her clinic runs late it’s part of life but just try and make sure you feel 100% confident with what they say xxx
Hello,
We didn't have a lot of questions (shell shocked) but my husband did take copious notes in a hardcover notebook that I've used since the start. Those notes are so useful. So much information is given to us that it's impossible to take it all in.
Don't forget to breathe. At my last appointment when we were discussing my liver mets, overwhelmed, I totally zoned out for a few minutes and deep breathed. The oncologist didn't seem to notice, and I knew my husband was capturing the information.
"What does that mean?" is a good response for something you're not sure of. Also, get copies of important reports.
Good luck tomorrow. XXOO
Hi Manchesterlady,
Lots of us will be thinking of you both tomorrow.... you will be in good hands at St Mary's.
There is a page about possible questions to ask. Link is here: ovacome.org.uk/support/what...
But you could always give Anna at Ovacome a ring in the morning and talk through possible questions with her.
Wishing you hope and strength, Sx
Good luck with your appointment
I wrote a few questions down such as what treatment will I be offered what do they expect to achieve from it. Recovery time. Follow up procedures. Who to call before then if I have any questions. My new question now would be and what private options are there should I want to explore other drug and care choices
Let us know how it goes

Maybe ask about pre op drugs and possibly stoma ?
Good luck xxx
you could think about taking a Dictaphone with you as long as the consultant agrees?! Good luck Gina xx
I also wrote a list of questions but it was all explained to me so I just checked through them at the end and ticked them off. It really helps to have someone with you taking notes, as Nancy said, then keep the book going to note down any future questions, meds taken, side effects etc.
You have a plan and people on your side, you can do this, you can win this battle!
