Hi ladies

Does anyone know anything about integrative hormone replacement therapy (bioidentical) as an alternative to current HRT?

Of course I would not do this without consulting my doctor. I'm in the US so there's not much info on bioidenticals. I suspect that this is due to the protests of Big Pharma.

Hello! I was on bioidentical HRT prior to my OC diagnosis. I started menopause at 44 and the side effects were awful....hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, etc.. I researched both traditional HRT and bioidentical.

I was on bio HRT for almost 4 years. Within two weeks of starting them my symptoms were gone and I felt 'normal' again. About every 3 months I would need to have them tweak the formula, but it worked everytime. They were cream based so it was very easily done.

Please let me know what other questions you have. :)

Hi Jodi

Thanks for some first hand information. Now that you have been diagnosed with OC what does the oncologist say about taking bioidentical hormones?

Oh....the sleepless nights of wondering 'if I did this to myself'. ...... It is his opinion the HRT had nothing to do with my diagnosis. My GP had the same opinion.

During my research I talked to 2 GP's and an OB. The OB was the only one that did not like the bio. He wanted me to do traditional. The two GP's were comfortable with either. I felt trying to go the 'natural' route to begin with made more sense.

I just started second line treatment this week. A lot of the menopause symptoms are back with a vengeance and I'm going to discuss with him at my next appointment what my options are with regard to HRT.

I too was on bio-identical hormones too from the Marion Gluck clinic in London. Started them prob about 18 months ago, and was peri menopausal.

Had awful symptoms prior, and felt like I was going mad. Started with cream, and had good results with about 6 weeks, but then 3 months or so later they started to creep back so I began using lozenges which worked well.

My OC was diagnosed stage 4a in October, I initially asked Oncology surgeon about continuing, he said if it made me feel better then yes. I phoned the clinic & they seemed concerned, but we had a chat & they prescribed more over the phone. In the meantime I mentioned to my Oncology Chemo Dr, & she said she didn't want me taking them, & would rather I had a clean slate. This upset me as I'm dreading the symptoms back (sweats, irritability, anxiety, feeling generally) obviously I'm going to take the advice she's given me so I stopped a few weeks ago.

I have a number of friends who continue to take them with good results. One asked if there had been an increase in cases of OC and was told no.

Hope that helps you... x

Only just come across these notices about Bio HRT so even if I am a little late in responding, I too was with Marion Gluck after using Nat Health HRT. I never looked back and though I became disappointed with MG's clinic, her introduction to Bio HRT was the best thing and I will continue to the day I die!
