Hi just thinking about clothing for post op...up/down abdominal cut from breast to pubic bone? Worried about band round the waist and too cold for dresses?
Post op clothing: Hi just thinking about clothing... - My Ovacome
Post op clothing
I wore leggings for the most part. If the waistband was bugging my scar I just moved the waistband lower than the scar. I had also lost a bit of weight so the waist was looser than normal. Over the top I wore baggy jumpers.
I was surprised how well and quickly the scan healed.
Good luck x

Hi there,
I had the same thought as you for my post-op, which was also in wintertime. Lots of people manage really well with big loose trousers but I found anything with any waistband really uncomfortable. So I developed a kind of 'urban witch' look (as my partner called it!).
Basically I bought a couple of inexpensive long jersey dresses online. On top I layered warm thermal tops and long woolly jumpers. Below I added very long woolly socks, and wore kneehigh boots outdoors. This whole contraption might have looked a bit weird but it was jolly comfortable and very warm, and not a single waistband to irritate.
Oh, and I bought a warm onesie for indoor wear as well (!) which I never ended up wearing, for reasons I might spare you...!
The good news is that spring is on its way and the healing process can be quicker than you might imagine, so you will perhaps only need this level of clothing consciousness for a few weeks if that.
All the very best for your op - I hope it goes really well.
Keep us posted -

I rather like the sound of that ensemble Judith!
I wore loose leggings after my op, I wore them 2 sizes too big for me, they were very baggy everywhere as I'd lost lots of weight but I was comfortable and that's all I wanted. Xx
I wore track suit ends and slip on shoes a lovely combo and loose tee shirts with collars and a hoody. I bought some cami s as was concious that my scar could be seen which it couldnt but you know the mind overworks a bit. For post op in the hospital, I had some nighties for the first day or so which were easier to manage. One the front of one it said, I am not a quitter and the back it said, I will not quit eating chocolate and that gave the nurses a laugh.
Trackie bottoms for me, I couldn't sand the waist band of anything. I also wore a long summer dress with boots and a chunky cardi. Good job I'm not proud lol.

I bought a load of cotton camisoles/undershirts because I find they provide a nice 'buffer' and protect the wound/scar, and then trousers with a loose fitting elastic waistband.
Cami/vests tucked into elastic waist with loose top, scar heals very quick but is still a little sensitive.
I wore black soft fabric PJ bottoms, they look like wide leg pants. No tight waistband, really comfy.
Hope this helps.
Good luck x
I bought a couple of kaftans, from Skye Batik, and wore t-shirts, etc., under them, and cardigans on top, to keep warm. They even shortened them for me
I got stretchy jersey trousers from m&s and had loose t shirts and jumpers.
PJ bottoms or dungarees for me. They did disguise fact I had put on weight though. Huge shock when realised my normal jeans and school trousers wouldn't fasten!
I do have a collection of very long vests in various colours from Matalan (£4 each and brilliant) which are great for layering. I lounge about in them with loose leggings or pj bottoms and a cosy cardi or slouchy jumper on top.
Oh and I've managed to find some of those pull on bras that can accommodate my ample 36G boobs. Yay..
Vogue has nothing on us here, Warriors!
Fantastic response and some really helpful suggestions...Thank you!!! Loving the comedy factor a few of you have added too...its good to laugh when you can!! 😃 xxx
A bit late to this, but I wore pajama bottoms at home or leggings (the ones from Next are nice and soft) with a tunic-type dress or long jumper for going out in public. I bought them a size too big for a bit of added comfort (and it also helped to accommodate the super-sexy surgical stockings I had to wear the first few weeks). Best of luck with the op! Kerry xx
