Best advice go to a specialist hairdresser if you can who can cut your hair thats what I did for 6 months after the place were I got the hair piece. It is a wonderful feeling getting your hair cut for the first time all part of the recovery. Dont rush into colouring as your hair will be baby hair. I will be 2 years in Aug from chemo now my hair is getting really long and need to get trimmed very often before you know it will be the same for you. Costing me a fortune now as get highlighted too. I think it was 9 months before I went near colours.

My hair has been growing for about 7 months. I used Moroccan oil from time to time , just massaging it into scalp 'cos I heard it helps growth. Go to your local health food shop and ask them. It can be v expensive in hair salons.

I got colour last month and it didn't affect the growth.

Enjoy it. Just great having my hair back! Good idea to get it trimmed to generate growth.

Hi ladies. Thanks so much for the replies and advice. I really appreciate it. I finished chemo 3 months ago and have about an inch of regrowth. But it's really grey! I think I might get a trim to tidy up the straggly bits at back and sides. I think it would be a big lift to get it cut but I doubt I'd go out without the wig until I had a colour. Although maybe the hairdresser would have sone advice. Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I found at about 4 month stage it was too itchy to wear wig it was the winter so got away with a hat for a while. I don't think you are allowed colour for 6 months. The best part if there is one is finally having hair back it goes quicker then you think when I look at my hair now it's like it never happened definitely get it cut ay this stage. Best of luck with it all I now have wavy hair and my hair was straight so better hair

Hi Missfifz, well you are out at the other side well done. What I used was Loving Care, wash in, it is hard to get unless you are near Superdrug, Wexford or Sewells Chemist in Killarney. It doesnt have any chemicals and does last longer than the dyes from the Health Shops which are about 15 euro. This one is about 6. Use loads of conditioner at the moment, I did go and get my hair cut but went back out to car and put wig back on for another week or so, you know yourself when you are ready to take this step. I am not a hat person but I do agree wear one as this cold breeze we have can well give you neuralgia. Best of luck to you this is another step in your recovery.

Hi Suzuki. Thanks for the advice on that colour. I'll keep an eye out for it or something similar. I really think I would have to colour it before facing the world without the wig. Booked my haircut - pretty excited!

Hi Missfitz. Your hair will grown back so quickly that you will be so surprised. Dont be shocked by the colour. Mind grew back silver, then changed to dark grey - and then decided not to put any colour it. One of the best decisions I made. But you may feel differently so can't advise on colour - but definitely treat yourself to a good hairdresser for cutting styling. It is the least we can treat ourselves to when finished treatment.

Best of luck and continued good health, daisies.

Hi daisies. Thanks for your response. It's such a boost to get responses to a question. Especially from people who have gone through this themselves. I went through most of this forum tonight and I read you have a scan coming up. I wish you the very best of luck with it.

Hi All,

Meant to tell you that the scan result is VERY POSITIVE . Only a shadow of one tumour left and have started Avastin only, with another scan in 3 months time, and no adverse after effects from yesterdays session. Was so pleased and excited with news I didn't even notice the spelling errors: oops, sorry about that. So with the brighter evenings and improving weather - things are looked up.
