What if any symptoms did you have when diagnosed
large lump with soreness on right hand side of body. For recurrence it was more difficult, had a lot of pain and ct was not done just xray and brushed off and told it was arthritis in my back. My gp referrred me to a rheumatalogist a few months later and he decided I was indeed stiff so ordered an mri. MRI showed recurence though bloods were reasonably ok/ But I did have high levels of calcium in my blood. So would watch out for pain weight loss constipation in particular but others could have different symptoms. Apparently CA 125 may not now be regarded as reliable
CA125 may not be made by certain tumours so is not reliable and also there are many benign conditions that can cause a raised CA125. Was your Ca125 raised on diagnosis?
Endometriosis, uterine fibroids (benign tumors), pancreatitis, normal menstruation, pelvic inflammatory disease, and liver disease. Benign tumors or cysts of the ovaries can also cause an abnormal test result. Increases can also be seen in cancers other than ovarian cancer, including malignancies of the uterine tubes, endometrium, lung, breast, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract. Pregnancy can also cause increases.
My legs and feet just started to swell to the point that I couldnt get my shoes to fit even first thing in the morning. I had a non specific off feeling in my stomach, but nothing I could describe well or put it down to. I endured this for a few months while my doctor sent me for several tests which all came back as normal, then my abdomen started to become bloated to the point that I looked about 6 months pregnant. At this point my Doctor suspected ovarian cancer. The time from the first symptoms to diagnosis was November 2011 to March 2012.
I thought I'd sprained a muscle lifting something, but the occasional low ache didn't go away. Went to GP who had a feel and found tenderness. Referred me for scans and it all moved forward very quickly. CA 125 was up.
It was rising CA 125 ( though still within normal range) that alerted to possible recurrence, now confirmed by scans.
