Hello! My son will be 3 in December and the following week will be starting nursery

I was wondering if other parents could share their tips to make this transition as easy as possible for us all 😂 he will be doing three mornings a week

Thank you!

Hiya, big good luck with the start to nursery😊. For us the main thing that really helped was (trying) to be organised with their belongings that they need in those. Mine each had their nursery bag and it had all the things in it that they needed set up the night before so it reduced the stress when I then needed to get to nursery. In those early days I just found it helped. I also ordered name stickers with pictures on which my little one chose the picture. I also got a really lovely picture book about going to nursery and we would look at that. I tried to make it seem like an adventure and I’d talk about it. How are you feeling about it? I really hope it goes well.

My l.o took a pillow from home with him, I offered a blanket but he went for pillow!!! I think the third week he was ok and that might’ve been because I did some collages of pictures of people he loves or it might be cos he was used to it and knew I was coming back!!

Does your son know any kids going to the nursery? Could you find some CBeebies programmes about starting nursery so he has an idea what to expect...?

When I worked in a nursery we didn’t mind parents calling to make sure they settle in, we knew it’s a change for both of you😅

Hey I work in a pre school. Does your child have a key adult? The system works great and my son bonded with his straight away and made him settle, he loves going now. Communication is the key. 😁
