So today my 10 month old fell off the bed. She is ok (not sure me or my partner are) and will have her first bruise.

My question is.

How did and do you deal with it?

We ran the doctors and were told what to look out for.

But we still worry and would have rather seen someone.

We were also told to wake her in the night and play with her. That can be hard she likes her sleep.

This part of being a mum always worries me as I hate when children run and could hurt themselves but I also know it's a part of their life and I need to deal with it and to make sure their safe were possible.

So as you can tell she will now not be on the bed ever again. You take for granted what they never did before and how much the are now into everything and moving around

Arg! It’s awful when they get hurt especially when they are small. My nearly 1 year old managed to pull a chair over on top of herself the other day. Luckily she only got a small bruise above her eye, but it could have been worse. My mum was really upset as she had been in the room but didn’t get to little one in time. I think no matter how careful you are accidents will inevitably happen. I had my fair share when I was little. As long as you keep an eye on the injuries and seek medical advice when necessary you will most likely be ok. You would know if something wasn’t right. It’s just one of the extra stresses we have to manage being parents! The fact that you’re obviously so worried about it just shows how much love you have. Trust yourself and remember - you’re doing great!

It sounds like you did all the right things following your little ones fall. It is important to always seek medical advice for injuries on any children, especially younger ones who can't always tell us where it hurts.

Child accident prevention trust are a good source of advice: capt.org.uk/falls

The NHS has the following advice:

No advice to give, but wanted to say that it sounds like you did all the right things. It's really hard to get that balance between letting little ones explore and take risks and keeping them safe. There are always going to be bumps, bruises and cuts. I know my Mum was mortified when she had two of us with broken arms at once, but one happened at nursery and the other was from an over enthusiastic two year old bouncing on the bed! It definitely didn't stop my brother having fun bouncing on the bed, but he was maybe a little more careful in future...
