Happy Tuesday everyone!

It can be tricky to know when is the ideal time for your child to be left home alone. If you feel your child is mature enough to be left for short periods it is important to make sure they are safe. Some points to remember are:

- Ask them first. They may like to feel grown up but some might feel scared and not want to stay home alone

- Have rules clear on what they can and cannot do

- Make sure they know who to contact in an emergency

- Tell them not to post details about being home alone on social media

When did you first leave your child at home alone? What factors helped you make that decision? Share your thoughts below!

We worked up from 10 minutes to now leaving my 15 year old whilst I go to work, and she texts me if she wants to do something new, like making microwave mug cakes last holidays.

She likes to be home alone, and will do laundry and wash up too!

That sounds la really good way of working up to longer periods of time, mine aren’t quite old enough yet but will try that when the time comes.

Has your daughter always been into helping around the house or did she start doing those things as her confidence grew at home alone?

Having divorced a manbaby, I am determined that my son is experiencing equality of opportunity to work as a team and run the house, which means we all do a bit of everything according to our abilities!

My daughter can manage the washing machine but tends not to notice it needs doing unless she has something in the hamper she wants to wear again!!
