Oesophageal cancer Doctor recomendation .

My friend was diagnosed with stage iv Oesophageal cancer . We live in Egypt but he wants to get the best treatment possible . From my search i found that germany has the highest survival rate for cancer in general . I am currently looking for a good doctor with in germany because as i understand , this type of cancer is very critical . Anyone had any experience or suggestions for doctors in germany with high survival rate .

I'm from Germany, was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in October 2017. As far as survival rates are concerned, I have no information. I guess you won't find a doctor who can tell you. Statistics can be worse or better than the individual case. But, of course, I fully understand that you want to get the best treatment available.

I wonder if it is best treatment available in Germany or maybe simply the fact that most people have access to treatment due to the health system.

As to the number of patients treated in the individual hospitals in Germany, you can look this up on:

If it comes to surgery, this may be helpful, because it is recommended to have surgery in a hospital where surgeons have much experience in this particular field.

As far as I know, stage 4 patients are, however, first treated with chemotherapy, radiation or immunotherapy.

On the German site you won't find much up-to-date information, since there are not many patients participating. I'd recommend you to consult the American site. There are quite a lot of patients or caregivers with regard to stage 4 (o)esophageal cancer. And some people asking questions from other countries.

I was treated by Professor Hölscher at Agaplesion Markus Krankenhaus in Frankfurt and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Good luck.
