Hi, This can be a difficult time and the best advice is to keep to a well balanced diet. You must take calcium supliments, especially if you are taking a PPI such as Omeprazole, the calcium can 'pass straight through' at first, but I am assured that your body will get used to it. Your GP will help with this.

It is also coming to light that men may need a calcium suppliment if they have been on PPIs long term, ie over 5-10yrs. The PPIs tend to stop calcium being absorbed as efficiently and I know of some men who are developing osteoporosis, (spongy bones), so it's worth just keeping an eye on this.

Hi there, my personal experience is that I went through the early menopause following 3 cycles of chemotherapy; I was 40 at the time and had not been informed of this side effect.
