I'm celebrating today as I had an appointment with my consultant this morning and he has discharged me. I am now 5 years down the line and he said everything is looking good. So to everyone in the early days of this journey, keep your chin up and be positive it does get easier as time goes by.

I'm just over 2 years now and feeling good about everything. Your anniversary news makes everything very worth while. Congratulations on the 5 years and wishing you an even better further 5, 10, 15, 20.. years.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your news. I think it is important that members share the 'ups' with the 'downs' , it helps enable everyone to get a more balanced view about the journey post op. Well done !
As I`ve mentioned before I`m a `newbee` being only 3+ months post op but it always lifts my spirits to hear of people like yourself being 5 years and more and doing so well. It helped me get through the early days and now helps me through the odd bad days knowing that things only get better.
Unfortunately being 58, and fairly fit before the op you could say I get a bit impatient and think I can do things I did before the op. At least my body tells me when enough is enough and I should stop.
Once again Stevej well done hope things continue for the foreseeable future
On another note if anyone is going to the meeting today at guys hospital would you be so kind and let me know what is said and all the news please as I can't go due family birthday, as this would have been my first time going I await any replys.Thank you.Tina
Heartfelt congratulations. I know how you feel as I was discharged in Feb after my 5 year milestone. It felt a long time coming, at times, but was a huge relief so enjoy the celebrations and keep looking forward to a happy and healthy future.
I too was discharged at the end of April, what a great feeling!! I still have my off days but have seen the birth of two grandchildren which I never thought I would see when I was diagnosed.
