Radiofrequency Ablation

I am being referred to have radiofrequency ablation and it is sounding really scary. Has anyone gone through this? I'm wondering what to expect and how best to cope with this and any side effects. Marion.

Hi Marion,

I have had 13 rounds of RFA and not really had any problems. After the first session I stopped off at a pub on the way home and had a steak as had decided I was going to eat and drink as normal despite being told to only have soft food for a couple of weeks!. I was back to normal after a couple of days mild discomfort. Have had a couple of sessions that were a bit more painful but nothing to worry about, you will be sedated..... Don't over think it, just be positive and eating and drinking normally made me recover more quickly although we are all different so can't recommend that will work for you.

Thank you for those reassuring words. I feel a bit easier after hearing of your experience. Overthinking is certainly not helping. thank you.

I had a few rounds of RFA. It was just like an ordinary endoscopy with only mild discomfort. I understand your worry as I was just the same. It sounds far worse than it is. Try not to worry too much
