Help please to understand what's happening

My story starts 2020 December, I got a pain 3 inches from the top of my sternum, well to the right. It was more chest than anything. Come march the pain had gone and they did an xray and it was clear. Over the next year I would have heartburn and indigestion and would come and go. Tame some tablets here and there but nothing heavy.

The pain in the chest was always on the right, sometimes the left . On Nov 22 it appeared again and then left.

Feb 23 it appeared with a bang center chest below throat and of recent I have had a sore throat and well today its been killing me, sore ache behind right shoulder blade, heavy feeling right of chest.

My original concern was met with an xray and although clear never showed anything

I don't have a problem swallowing and apart from the recent sore throat. Never feel sick apart with anxiety and do not have weight loss but reading some stories , chest pain, back pain etc are a direct link.

I am now deeply worried , I have a endoscope in planning and I am considering just paying for it.

Any ideas or help appreciated

Hi adventur4r.. my first comment was going to be you need an endoscopy. It sounds like you have been messed around a lot. If your wait is lengthy then I would pay and have it done sooner. If for nothing else but your mental health.

Thanks for the comments, it's really unknown, having symptoms or non of the symptoms.

I got a consultants appointment this morning from end of June, went private . Not quick will need to try and put it all in the back of mind.

Obviously can't diagnose but I had similar pains in mentioned areas with acid burns . Took time to diagnose hiatus hernia so I would explore camera investigations which initially I was scared to have but relieved wasn't as bad as I thought and gave me answers .

4 years after hiatus hernia day surgery . No looking back. Modified eating plans but all good variety of unprocessed foods and mindful exercise which I was too mentally and physically shattered to do beforehand . Changed my life long term .

Only advice - don't take too much medication . May help but long term can bring other issues . Good luck . Please update us .

Thank you, just so scary.

Most times dies down , this time feels horrendous possibly due to the throat being sore and right side feeling inflamed, weird...anyway

Phoned the private hospital quickest appoint for a consultant is end of June £200 for consultation , 1800 dor endoscope on whether he decides its needed.

I know what you mean about tablets, dry mouth issues all over all new too, same as the throat

I have private insurance so either they will pay it or I will, go on holiday in 2 weeks so go not go , I'm going it's not going to change me sitting pondering things

Honestly thought it would be quicker but then who knows . Some good advice here .

So thank you

adventur4r, Hope all goes well for you. An endoscopy will relieve your mind so I'd go ahead with it . When I had similiar symptoms it was a hiatus hernia which is now under control with medication. All the best.

Just picked up on the medication . Please watch this . I go some horror stories from patients who had taken medication like lansoprazole for years . Some had developed stomach ulcers . This scared me - maybe you aren't on same but I would ask for a review of your tablets at least twice a year if it doesn't happen already . Fortunately I had day surgery for hiatus hernia and it was the best thing I have ever done . My GP said it doesn't go away so I took her advice and pushed for the op. This was over 5 years ago and it worked .
