I also have esophagus cancer that has spread making it stage 4. The original life expectancy is 6 to 8 months. That was over 2 yes ago. After treatment the cancer in liver and lymph nodes has gotten smaller. Please don't think it is a death sentence, with the grace of God and good meds hopefully you will have years ahead of you. Please keep in touch.

Omg rich this is so nice to read and hear, I’m glad you still here. What treatment did you originally have what chemo drugs ?? and was it classed as palliative? This has really put a smile on my face and given me hope as well, if you don’t mind me asking was yours squamous cell esophogeal cancer as well, and how old were you on being diagnosed? it’s so nice to read a positive post who had been told the same prognosis as my partners, I just refused to except that this is it as he’s only 52 still clinally well in himself, he is due to start his second IV of chemo next week, and the oncologist has said they will CT scan after the 3rd cycle to see if it has done anything, all We can do it remain positive and pray it has.

Also are you located in the UK as well, only asking as I’ve researched all sorts of treatments but some are not licenced to use here in the UK so I hope you also live here and had the chemotherapy treatment through the NHS ???

Well Smity finally found someone with oesophageal cancer that I can relate to hopefully, I have adenocarcinoma cancer at the junction of the stomach and esophagus . It spread to the liver and lymph nodes. Some of the chemo meds i was given by way of infusion are Xeloda, Ramucirumab, Taxol and now on an immunotherapy called Keytruda. What it does is it blocks the PDI pathway from hiding so it can detect and fight the cancer cells. I have been given these meds and some others over the course of 2 years. I also had centerlized radiation on my liver but to no avail. As meds for treating all the side effects, I found it easier to use just 1 pain med as needed. As far as me, I am 73yrs young, a US veteran, and our VA is were i am receiving treatment . The only setback is now as I am recovering from COVID pneumonia in one lung. It is with prayers, family support, and my wonderful team of doctors that I can continue to be positive and fight back. God bless you and help your head up.

Hi I got diagnosed 2016 .2 cancers in esophagus.6 in lymph glands 1 in liver.i was74 and in UK. 3 months treatments of capecitabine and cisplatin tablets at home.3 infusions in hospital not sure now what. Was too I'll to start 4th cycle of treatments (really bad runs and sick but mostly the runs) I demanded to start 4th cycle. Doc said no. No need. No cancer found in cat scan. I am classed as terminal still and have 6 monthly cat scans. I feel fine except for out of breath. I used to have turmeric and honey mixed in a yoghurt. Not sure it helped but you feel you have to do something. Also carrot and apple and beetroot smoothy. In the end I hid my tablets in ice cream. My thoughts are with you. I am ok. There is always hope I live in Sheffield. Weston park hospital good. Best wishes.

Hi, it’s good to hear and I’m so pleased the treatment has worked for you,I’m sorry for asking but do you know if you had squamous cell carcinoma in the esophogeal or was it adenocarcenoma? I’m only asking as my partners is squamous cell carcinoma, he is due to have his next IV infusion next week of more cisplatin and is currently taking the capactibine dose of twice daily 500mg and twice daily 150mg. He still feels well within himself and looks well, carrying on with normal daily stuff except a little tired here and there, we are seeing the oncologist on Monday so I’m just trying to gather as many positive outcomes of people who have been diagnosed with the same and have been on the same treatment, hence wondering if yours was squamous cell carcinomas or the other one of adencarcinoma. I hope you continue well in your recovery though it’s so so lovely to read and give us hope xx
