BBC2 at 9pm - surgeons at the edge of life. This has been a great documentary series. Tonight’s episode is about a challenging procedure on a patient with a severely scarred oesophagus which they remove and build a new one by stretching her stomach. Just thought it might be interesting to some people on this site.

Thank you for that information,I will definitely watch that one I'm 10 years post op and probably find it very interesting
Very interesting documentary but the poor lady may be expecting a cure-all op. As we all know this is now back to square 1. Less problems but different and will take some getting used to. Good luck to her.
My wife is in the UK and watched it and said it really brought home to her what I went through down here in South Africa last November. Ironically I was back in hospital yesterday having my second stretch after having a complete blockage from last Saturday night that lasted until Monday morning. A bit scary.
It was so interesting to see it from another perspective and not as the patient - I had the identical surgery to this lady 2 years ago to eradicate my cancer. Apart from a second op to repair my diaphragm this year and a couple of stretches - life is really good and I'm still here! These surgeons are definitely superheroes.
Might give it a watch my husband died in Feb this year due to espegeous cancer which had spread any operation that gives you chance is worth it xx
I missed it! Will they send it again?
You could probably watch it on catchup or iplayer
It's on iplayer for another 25 days from today.
