If you go to the OPA website, and look under `downloads` there is one for the card. Plus some other factsheets you may find useful.

A lot of place do meals for the `smaller appetite` or mix and match something I have done before now eg. after my op 6 years ago I used to ask for a starter instead of the main. Most places understand if you explain you can only eat small meals.

My cards came in an info pack from OPA. Have never used one yet. I either have childrens meals, some places do have real food on them!, or choose a stater. Also Places have been quite happy to wrap left overs to take with me. Useful on holiday as I could have half a sandwich and take other half for later. Be careful of where codes not prices go into til. Our gym cant serve 1 slice of toast as it is priced in 2s. Have solved that I think if I use childrens menu. The other time things didnt work for me was a group meal out which was pre orderd. I had spoken to the catering manager about portions and so had the organisers. On the night though, i got 3 full courses and was charged fully. I did take home a chicken breast! Next time I shall opt out of the group arrangment and order myself from the main menus. Good luck

I also love have a card but have never used it.

I order children's portion & find most places will do this for me.

Found it more embarrassing showing the card than actually asking! Normally have a childs meal or share an adults portion with 'er indoors-only remember being questioned about it once-needless to say we never went back. Wetherspoons have a childrens/small portion menu, plenty of their branches around.

Lots of places now do smaller portions for older people! You may not be an OAP, but it's worth checking out - Hungry Horse is one - as well as some independent restaurants. My husband has had an oesophagectomy, but I am quite slim and have a smaller appetite anyway. So, all we say is that we don't have big appetites and have no need to explain further! All the best, Kate

Hi yes it is embarrassing the size of meals we eat and can be difficult when going out in a group of friends. I also ask for a children’s meal or take away or just go with starters. I have also a collapsible container which sometimes i use. Also i tend to buy my own when out with friends they should understand.

Good luck

Hah I know that feeling. I got some hash and eggs at a breakfast place and they were looking at me funny when I said no I dont want bread or fruit or anything... then 10 mins later I ask for a box to put 3\4 of it to take home.

I figure if it starts to bother me ill just tell them I have a compimised stomach.

Good luck...don't sweat the petty rhings pet the.....

I really didnt know there was a real card u can get. Thats neat! Still doubt I would use it though!
