Adding to my post a very short while ago I should have said my husband informed his doctor at the first visit he was finding it difficult to swallow. I know because I was with him at every visit. When the Xrays came back she said "you haven't got cancer" and we both very nearly burst into tears of relief

Hi. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It is no consolation but it took six months for me to get a proper diagnosis, and I made sure I chose the doctor who was the ENT specialist. GPs by definition are "General" so only know a little about a lot and they would have to go through a logical procedure. The best thing you can do now is to throw your energy into raising awareness of this disease. You could contact the OPA to see what you can do.

Best wishes.
