Hi .. im interested in a ph Bravo test to determine ph levels in my oesoph. I am 60 currently have reflux take omeprazole and have hiatus hernia. Any one got any info. I found this test on twitter. Not heard of this before on here it from nhs yet in principal it seems a good idea. Info appreciated. Cheers. G

It is a really good idea to test your acid etc in your system. It might influence whether your hiatus hernia should be treated, for instance. But from what I have heard from others, the 24-hour monitoring is something that can cause discomfort, but perhaps this depends on exactly what equipment is used.
Have recently had 24hr monitoring done to test ph levels. Not painful, just unpleasant to put tube through nose and into stomach. You are aware of a slight irritation when swallowing , but was ok. You need to record when you eat, times etc, and results. eg. nausea sickness, reflux, chest pain etc.

Hi i am getting it, i don't see the point as the doc said it would rule out acid reflux but not bile and he thinks i have bile ! any thought appreciated x
Hi Ceri. Thank u. Askd my consultant abt ph test. He wasnt that bothered. I have giant hiatus hernia .. its just gotta be done. Opened yur reply at the opportune moment. Im in st thomas' london .. hoping to go in within the hour for the hiatus hernia op ( nissen fundoplication ). Fingers xd. G
