Good day all,

Just found this website- might help with my query!

In October 2013, aged 68, I had my oesophegous removed - (cancer). Since then and still happening - after i have eaten I get a pain in my lower abdomen and have to sit down for about 10-15 minutes until the pain disappears - just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this - my consultant says I have to eat "little and often" for the rest of my days. Again same for everyone??

We are all different but I can assure you , you are not alone in what you feel. For me it is strange that sometimes I am fine and other times after even half a sandwich I experience the discomfort you describe. There are times when I can manage a whole sandwich without discomfort but the days of me eating a 42oz steak or drinking 5 or 6 pints are well and truly behind me - I now manage to drink 1 pint in about 2 hrs or so and as long as I don't try to eat too I am fine - considering the alternative to my new lifestyle I happily accept these few minor irritations :)

Yes. Little and often definitely and permanently.

The pain might be colic - a bit like babies - caused by trapped wind. Gripe water sometimes helps, and sometimes speed of eating is an issue.

Thank you for your comments.

I might try the gripe water and see how that goes. A bit wary of possible side effects though - I don't feel gaseous just a very sore lower abdomen which, as I say goes away after I have sat down, quietly, for 10 - 15 minutes.

Thank you again.

Yes, definitely the Gripe Water is a good choice to fight with Colic Problems in Babies. But one should avoid to an extent as there many side effects of Gripe Water on Babies Health.

Alcohol in Gripe Water is not Good for babies.

I think that this is classic "Early Dumping Syndrome". It can be helped by a change in diet, posture, when eating and a whole host of other things.

As I understand it: What you eat and drink passes down your plumbing much quicker than when your oesophagus and stomach were complete. This means that the food is arriving in your bowel before it is really digested properly causing the discomfort.

Little & often is the biggest relief that I have found. That and avoiding too much obvious sugars and lactose.

I think our reward for surviving is to be tested by having all the nice stuff cause us pain.
