Hi can anyone help me had stent fitted 6 weeks ago and I am still getting pain on my left side more so when I relax is this norma

You may well feel the stent, depending on how it is positioned. Is the pain around your oesophagus itself, as far as you can tell? Is the pain the same as you had before? or is it new? and did it start after having the stent fitted? There might be a bit of stiffness in the stent that might makes itself felt if you are a bit bent over to one side. They do vary in length and profile.

The best thing is to check with the specialist nurse.

Hi Alan yes the pain did start more or less as soon as I got home got worried one evening phoned ambulance they took me to a&e who checked me over said all ok just the healing process but its been 6 weeks now and I still feel pain not the same pain as I had before more of a dull ache mainly when I rest or trying to sleep got a check up appt at the hospital 24 may I'm just worried that my stent has failed or I've got another blockage just need reassuring all is ok really. Stents can become blocked, and usually you know about it. There are some hints about stents in the blue OPA booklet that you can download here opa.org.uk/downloads.html ' Swallowing - Nutrition when it's difficult'.

I think that the hospital may say that stents are not always comfortable - and then it is a matter of debate as to whether the pain is discomfort, or something more complicated.
