When to have Op

Hi, nice to meet you ll. I'm 74 and have had r/knee pain for about 8/9 years. I'm okay at home and can do about 3000 steps before it stiffens. With a knee elastic have done 10/12000 steps in a day with moderate pain and more severe pain the following days. Sometimes get a shooting pain in r/part of knee at various times. Osteo keeps telling me to get it replaced but I'm not sure. Just wondering from you experts whether I should carry on or get myself put down for the op. Plus what sucees rate is there?

Thx

Tony

or get myself put down for the op…

Not sure you mean it to sound like that… 😊… by why not go for operation if it’s causing pain… mine [and many others] are very successful. If you get shooting pains, it could also cause your knee to jar and cause you to overbalance and do yourself more damage.

knee replacement is a difficult 1 year for fullrecovery. Some folks like. Friend John has pain in both knees 4 years later.

The worry for older folk is recovery from surgery or dealing with the pain and limits of the current knee.

That's your call. My wife was in constant knee pain couldn't sleep for 6 months before getting it replaced. The recovery is slow painful and frustrating for her. It's been four months and she is now sleeping ok. She got liver poisoning from all the drugs and pneumonia ended up 3 days in the hospital.

This is slow and doing rehab inflames the knee and it swells.

Your recovery may be better because Suzy takes very few drugs because of the liver issue.

thank you Dorsey lady

I can't find out who banned me from replying on this sight. Can you help me figure that out?

I was banned gor advising folks with back surgery to use a nuerosurgeon not an orthopod. I also. Supported this claim with data, like as much as 10 time quicker recovery in my personal case last year. Surgery for spinal stenosis and skied in Colorado last week and walk 4 miles every other day. Prior to the surgery was falling down and needing to sit frequently.

Thanks in advance for your help
