So after getting my gait analysis done to get good running shoes, orthotic insoles and a knee brace. I have finished the programme. So proud of myself!!

Congrats! What program did you complete? It seems like you have all the right gear to be physically active. Are you noticing a difference in your lifestyle after completing this program?

I’ve just finished the Couch to 5k. I’ve been exercising for about 5 years now but wanted more of a challenge. My legs feel stronger and my arthritic knee doesn’t seem to have suffered. I can only do 3k in 30 minutes so over the next few months I will increase my distance until I get to 5k.

Congrats, Nannymo30! Chiming in because I recall responding to your original post about participating in a running program a little while back. Job well done! What's your next goal? Charity run? Fun to do events like a 5k - keeps you motivated and they have good energy. Keep up the good work!

I can only do 3k in 30 minutes so I’m going to concentrate on increasing my distance to 5k. I will never be fast. My goal is to do a 5k charity run next year to raise money for the hospice that supported our friend when he was dying. I can’t believe I can run for the first time in 65 years!!!

well, Rome wasn't built in a day so go at your own pace and great things will happen! I've always enjoyed charity bike rides and runs. Not the competitive sort, I just like the vibe of the event, itself; and the motivational push leading up to it isn't bad either.

Side note about your youthful 65yrs - I remember back in my exercise physiology graduate studies learning about a research study highlighting the benefits of strength training in nonagenarians, which is only to say that none of us is ever too old to be active (or to start!) Keep it up!
