Hope you complained, luckily you knew but there's many that wouldn't have.

Outrageous!!!! You must complain, what if they over prescribed to someone.

Hi, please do complain. The pharmacy need to know what they are getting wrong. Thank goodness the mistake would be a harmless dose.

Ah! but did you get the right amount of tablets? My GP will only prescribe for four weeks at a time and wont re issue beforehand, all other previous responses are also right!

Hi Jaqi and all,

I check my prescription very carefully every week. I take 2 x 10 mg methotrexate. I have found a few mistakes by times, nothing live threatening, but always worthwhile to check.

Gina.

Jaqui.. from what you say the fault was with the prescription generated by the Drs computer?.. not a dispensing error at the chemist? though the chemist if it your usual one should have had your last prescription dispensed details on their computer and should have queried the dose with you?

Any one with any knowledge of methotrexate should know the lowest dose ever given to a patient is 2x 2.5mg tablets and this is the test/ starter dose given only by hospital consultants and dispensed by hospital pharmacies, by the time patients reach community care the lowest dose the will be taking is 3x2.5mg tablets ie 7.5mg, I must confess I checked my first prescription dispensed for me in a community pharmacy, even asking to see the original bottle as they had been dispensed into plain brown bottle and they looked quite different to our hospital stock.. its best to be careful!
