It's more likely that you'll be answering their questions about you, your level of pain, stiffness, how you're coping with mtx and managing your RA...I'd mention anything that's affecting your normal daily life (pain? fatigue? side effects? trouble sleeping?) and if there is anything that you're worried about, be it related to RA or not, as they can always point you in the right direction! Hope you get on ok, Jo xx

Hi Marnie, I agree with all that Emandedmum says. You don't mention your age but you need to ask about likely progression of the disease, don't forget to mention if you are feeling weepy/depressed (quite normal), trouble with your feet (again quite common), how the mtx is mixing with any other drugs you are on and likely side effects. You don't mention the dosage of mtx you are on but likely to be quite high if you are newly diagnosed. Mention to the consultant if you are getting any sickness or nausea from it. More likely if you are on tablets but if it gets very bad, can switch to injections. Worth discussing this as well. Hope that helps. LavendarLady

It's difficult to answer without knowing how you are feeling, if you don't feel things are right with your RA then tell them. If your having side effects etc, have you seen any improvement in you condition if the answer is no then tell them and make them listen. If your not clear on anything they tell you ask them to explain it better so you can understand as sometimes you can get lost in their medical knowledge. Take a note pad with you if you want and write down what he tells you, or while your waiting write down some questions you want to ask.

Ask how you bloods are doing and what the results are saying about your RA,

pain relief too are you happy is it working for you?

Hope all goes well and let us know.

Agree with the above but if you feel the need to be referred to Occupational Therapy or Physio ask about that. If you haven't got his secretary's phone number or your specialist nurse ask for them incase you need them in the future. Hope all goes well.
