does anyone with psoriatic arthritis suffer with extreme pain in the back ,like a severe cramp ,unable to move or breathe with it ?
Hi
I must admit that I've never associated it with my psoriatic arthritis but i do sometimes get pains around the back of my neck and down between my shoulders and the back of my ribs which probably only lasts for about a couple of mins. at a time but I do know that when they happen I sort of freeze and stop breathing to manage the pain. I'll be watching to see if you get any other answers with interest.

hi thankyou for replying ,does yours pass off or continue to build ,mine seems to start with extreme tiredness and usual type of pain ,then ends up with me unable to move ,i end up in bed on diazapan and tramadol ,, takes a few weeks to settle ,im going to have a good chat with consultant next time ,see what they say
Hi,
I don't have psoriatic arthritis but I do get this from time to time, I wake during the night paralysed with excruciating pain between my shoulder blades. My GP and Consultant both say it's muscle spasms. I now take Amytriptyline with Tramadol to help relax at bedtime.
Hope this is some help.

Ohmygosh! Yes, I have had Psoriatic arthritis for nearly 30 years and now also have RA. The PsA attacked my spine first, since 1985, I have had 8 spinal surgeries, with titanium rods, plates and screws, including fusion of my neck vertebrae.
The point I want to make is, get thee to a Rheumatologist and/or Orthopeadic Surgeon, have MRI of spine, to determine the vertebrae involved, and go from there. Probably won't need surgery first, may suggest steroid injections and Physical Therapy. Plus, anti-inflammatory agents. Very important to get started with all this to prevent the course of the disease from destroying the rest of your spine. Prevention is the key to avoiding diabilities. Good luck. Loretxx
