Since taking Arava 6 yrs ago I PU 2 hrly through the night. Full bladder every time. Is this a common side effect. No fluids after 5pm
I wake to use the loo every night, this is such a ritual. I too take Arava.
Did not think too much about it to be honest. But I do drink quite a bit during the day, May have two coffees in the evening, but water mainly during the day.
You should not stop drinking though. You need to keep hydrated.
Worth a chat with your specialist nurse see if it is the Arava. Good luck
Tea and coffee are strong diuretics so I am surprised you haven't cut out coffee in the evening. I only have one, as a treat, Sat and Sun mornings and then am PUing every hour!
I started having problems with my bladder and passing blood in urine many years ago prior to starting Leflunomide, I was going to the loo every 15 minutes at one point and up 3/4 times during the night. It was a major problem when at work, sitting in meetings or doing home visits. I had all sorts of tests, they thought I might have had cancer of the bladder, but diagnosed kidney disease. It's always worth talking to the doctor to rule out any serious causes.
Glad to say I'm on meds to stop it, but I still go every hour during the day and only twice through the night.

I only had my problem when I started Leflunomide so guess it acts as a diuretic for me.
I am glad to hear that your problem, which was serious, is now under control...the wonders of modern medicine. Do you have RA too?
Mine flared up in 2007
I have Spondyloathropies with Enthesitis which link more toward Ankylosing Spondylitis than RA, I'm now used to the aches/pain and stiffness in my joints, my biggest problem is soft tissue (ligaments and tendon) pain which affects my whole body now especially ribs and around my breastbone making breathing painful and difficult at times.
I think you having problems after Leflunomide may have been a coincidence. Go have a chat with the doctor, there are many medications to help with this.
