Ankylosing Spondylitis. Does your biologic help at the time of the month?

Hi all, recently posted due to recently starting on Adalimumab and received some great help.Another question please - my first two injections seemed to help temporarily for my pain, so I was excited about my third.

I had it on Weds and normally within 24 hours I can feel a benefit to my pain. This time I didn't and came on my period on Friday.

Before I started on biologics my pain was always worse on my period anyway.

How common is this please?

Thank you.

I have this too, apparently it’s quite common when I asked the Rheumatologist. You might find the link below helpful.

Hi Karen. Thank you for the reply, sorry you have it too, was worried the biologics had stopped working!

I have axial spondyloarthritis with PsA and definitely used to notice my pain was worse around the time of my period, especially the SI joint pain that wakes you up early in the morning.

Since starting the mini pill (had to come off combined pill due to migraines and then had nothing for a while) I stopped having proper periods, just spotting, and the premenstrual flare-ups stopped.

Hi rmros, thank you for the reply, yes I can relate to that. I've recently come off the pill and wasn't having periods. I'm glad things are easier for you on that score.
