I was first diagnosed with “unspecified” inflammatory arthritis after my joints seized following a bout of food poisoning, 4 years ago right before my 40th birthday (not fun).
Fast forward times of remission and times of horrendous flares .. I’ve been on Methotrexate injections for two years, oral before that, tried and failed with Sulphasalazine and my disease activity score is rising. Couldn’t even get support from my consultant or flare nurse over past year (haven’t seen anyone for a year) but saw a new registrar today at the GPS insistence who was fantastic. Full exam, x rays, system steroid and biologics (once I’ve passed the TB screening).
She said it’s time to move onto biologics. Has anyone else recently moved onto Adalimumab with MTX - any advice or insight?

Your history sounds similar to mine. I have inflammatory arthritis and ulcerative colitis. I have been on sulphasalazine and metoject for 3 years, for the past 18 months I was very unstable having more flares. I started Adalimumab nearly 3 months ago , it has been slow progress but I’m now starting to see a real improvement. No major side effects, a little bit of nausea and really bad headaches after the first two injections but nothing after that. Good luck
