Very simple and good explanation of different types of RA treatment
Very good understandable video. Thanks x
Thanks for the link. Clear explanation.
Thank you Amy_Lee that is very helpful.
Very happy you find it helpful. This is exactly what I wanted. The more we know, the easier we understand the kind of treatment our rheumy recommends.
You are very kind 🙂, I am doing my best to understand both the disease and the treatment but am definitely on a steep learning curve.
As everyone else will understand, it can be incredibly difficult 😓 when feeling unwell.
I had been through the very difficult journey hence I can understand what you mean.
RA hit me very hard, it was lucky I think, my blood results were ok but since I had all the RA symptoms, my rheumy started the treatment without any delay. The keys into remission are to be treated early and a sero negative will have a better chance into it. I had both of these and I have been in remission after a year and a half treatment.
I had posted some very informative videos and my recovery journey in the past, go to my profile to read up if you are keen to know.
Depression is also common due to the pain so be very positive as we can have our life back when the medicines kick in. Remember you are not alone, always think of someone who needs your support so you must not be defected.
Thank you Amy_Lee, can I ask for info. As to whether I am sero negative or do they let you know? You seem to have been fortunate in your speedy remission.
I will definitely read your profile.
Your message is very helpful.
in my case, my rheumy told me that I am sero negative. I was too new to know what to ask at that time. I didn’t even know what RA was all about then.
When your RF and anti-ccp are negative, that mean you don’t have RA basically in normal case. When one have the symptoms of RA but the blood result for the about are negative, then he or she will be called a sero negative. In sero positive case, either the above indicator will show up in the blood result.
You can ask your rheumy on this if you are sero negative or sero positive.
In fact, my RA was in very good control after about a year of treatment. But my rheumy said she preferred to monitor me for few more months before she declared if I was in remission.
My advice is working closely with your rheumy, don’t worry about the side effects of the poisonous drugs we take. Don’t skip your medicines, do your exercises daily. You can try food elimination, it may or may not help but it can’t control RA or reduce the progression of RA. Most importantly, ignore direct selling products and no supplement unless approved by your rheumy.
I am grateful for your supportive and informative response Amy_Lee.
I will take your very kind and sensible advice. 🌷
Do remember that the exercise process will be very painful. Only do to the level you can tolerate the pain. In addition, consistency is the key to see the result after many months. Also if your RA is at your peak, like me, just do the kids kind of exercises will do until your medicines kick in where you can really do a little be more. No need to go work a special type of exercise at the moment, just anything that can move your joints consistently.
Go to my profile, look up for my recovery process and the exercises that I did.
One more thing I like to add, just let your rheumy know if you develop any side effects. My rheumy basically told me that Mtx would give me more benefits than the side effects so she wanted me to continue it. Until a year later, Mtx dosage was 20 mg a week, my liver was not well, then only my rheumy decided to reduce the dosage of Mtx. At that time my RA was already in good control. I continued to improve until she declared my remission. I am now on 7.5 mg of Mtx and 10 mg of leflunomide.
