Does anyone else like me despair as to one minute sweating the next cold? Nothing to do with menopause? Is it due to the RA or the various RA meds? Or just me?
Thermostat!: Does anyone else like me despair as to one... - NRAS
Thermostat!
Me too!
Me too , and I have been feeling really ill with the runs and spent the day in bed apart from running to the loo. I thought it was the thermostat as I live in a basement apartment and I don't have control of the AC or heating. I don't have a problem as the couple up stairs are very nice and helpful knowing I have RA.
I hope you are okay, take care. xx
May be thyroid problems since this is from where temperature regulated. As much as 36% of RA patients have thyroid dysfunction, that often is not diagnosed.
And me, although with me I think its thyroid based.
Me too,but i find i can't cool down at all. My hair is always drenched with water,it pours off my face as well.xxx
I am so there with you! I blame mine on the steroids.
I am not sure of the cause but I have certainly had the same problem since diagnosis and treatment started nearly five years ago. Frequency has reduced in my case since meds have been in better balance (mtx and hydroxychloroquine). Hope your problem eases off too
I am going through the same thing, my rhuematologist blamed it on the steroids but I am no longer on them. I am hypothyroid so I blame it on that, but I am not sure if that is it or not hope you feel better.
Yup I think it's another side effect off the disease and the drugs we take
Me too I thought it was the steroids. Very interesting not to be freaky and alone.
Hi Jane - It may be both. I range through the same things - some days freezing and some times roasting. I just found out recently that my Pilocarpine (for Sjogrens) is part of the reason I sweat a lot.
Me as well, only difference is I was just finally diagnosed and have not seen rheumatologist yet so I do not have proper meds yet. I hate all the symptoms but glad to be on here with so much info!!!
I have the same problem...have to explain all the time that I've got a faulty thermostat...either too hot or too cold...don't seem to be able to manage moving from one temperature to another...watch people on buses sitting comfortably with all their layers on whereas I have to take mine off and put them back on when I get off the bus! And once I've overheated can't cool down again without going out of the room and putting my wrists under cold water...thought it was just me!
Hello Jane, oh my YES! Wow I thought I was the only one. I have a fan in & off all year round. Then I get freezing cold the next min. Strange. I was wondering if it has to do with having RA? Because I'm 62 & already went through the menopause. 🌻
I asked my rheumatologist which drugs were causing me to struggle with keeping my temperature even. He said it was the disease itself. Apparently, RA stops our bodies from being able to regulate our own temperature.
I'm usually worse when I've overdone it and feeling exhausted.
Hope that helps.
YES Jane1976 ! I am dripping with sweat, then chills, and then freezing / numbing hands and feet. Anyone know what causes this? 8080
