Just wondering while on MTX OR OTHER DMARDS , HAS ANYONE HAD SIDE EFFECTS OF FEELING REALLY TIRED WITH HEAVINESS AND LOW ENERGY?

The day after I take my 20mg of MTX I feel really tired and wiped out usually last about 24 hrs. Been like this since first put on it 15 yrs ago.

Yes, though may be exacerbated if you do have a virus, so you'll feel worse from that alone. If you're off your DMARD you'll also feel worse that is normal as your immune system will be playing up.

Oh gosh yes so bad, started in April and the methotrexates exhausts me for 24 hours went to see the rheumatologist yesterday and she's added in sulfasalazine so I'm currently on 15mg methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine - she's added in sulfasalazine so I can reduce the methotrexate in 2 months to combat my exhaustion I'll keep you posted! It's rotten isn't it I really feel for you xx

Hello gingq I have been on MTX for 6 months now and every week its the same 24-36 hrs

after injecting i am exhusted then my energy levels pick up again, I do time my treatment so that by the weekend I have full energy except at the moment because I have a chest infection. At my last appointment with the rhumey nurse i brought this up and was told it comes with the treatment.

When I was on MTX I took it on Sunday evening. Then planned absolutely nothing for Monday as i would be unable to do things. Tuesday morning was still poor but then it gradually improved.

I was on 20mg mtx in tabs and suffered from Nausea and fatigue badly. Since switching to injections the nausea has almost gone and the fatigue while still there has reduced . I find the fatigue that comes with RD will sometimes clash with mtx injection day and then the next day will not be good. not always sure if its the MTX or RD causing the fatigue.

Thanks everyone for your info!! I had to stop MTX because of liver trouble !! I'm waiting now for the virus to clear up before trying the new meds . I'm hoping the new med won't make me so tired after the virus is gone! And that the virus doesn't show up again! I also have Fibro so that could be part to blame also! But never felt that bad with the Fibro !! Thanks , gingeq

absolutely !! MTX used to make me wiped out and leflunomide isn't much better , and of course the RA causes awful fatigue in itself x
