Hey I've been diagnosed with rheumatoid 6 years nw I ... - NRAS
Hey I've been diagnosed with rheumatoid 6 years nw I was 21 now I'm 26 has any one tried biologics and are they good
If you qualify (check NRAS info) biologics are really worth trying. I was on infliximab for nearly 10 years then for a mix of reasons I was taken off it. Now I'm in 6th week of Enbrel and I think there are small changes taking place - for the better! Look at the info esp on NRAS, but my experience has been very positive on biologics.
Cathie, I am going take my 6th injection of enbrel on Monday. Are you getting boils. I thought I had read somewhere that they could be a side effect. I have 4 of them. I am prone to them any way but have not had one for a couple of years. Wonder if it is the enbrel?
No boils (yet) I had a slight skin rash on injection site but that seems to have gone
hello, i have been on Bio's now for nearly 2 years. i have been on 4 so far. when they work they are fabulous. the first 3 i was on i had to come off for several reasons. one attacked my liver, one caused a body rash, one just didn't work and the one that i am on now, Abatacept, put me in remission for nearly a year. i took a bad flare and from that its effectivness has deminished.
having said all that the level of pain now as compared to before starting Bio's is remarkable. while on Bio's i have been able to do things i couldn't do before. i can walk a bit straighter, comb my hair, i can stretch up a bit better, i can drive with a lot move body movement......
if you are given the chance to go on them i personally would advise you to take them. as is the case with all drugs dealing with rheumatiod disease it is a matter of finding what is right for you.
all the best of luck to you.
Thanks every one for you replies I'm current on medtrexate 3 mounths from flair up are these any gd they help a bit but still very stiff mornings can they keep u on medtrexate and put u on biologics I'm also on naproxin and dydrocodiene but keep having night mares of them but really gd
Hi, i have been on humira for 3 months now and i saw a great improvement 2weeks after the first injection, before i started it i was in such pain with very swollen joints and terrible fatigue. I have had all the usual R A drugs all of which failed, i was very reluctant to try biologic's as the possible side effect's don't make pleasant reading, but after 17yrs of this terrible disease i thought go for it anything is worth a try. My ESR/ CRP blood results are now 3 and 4 after being 60 and 70, I just can't believe how well i feel now, i still have joint damage that nothing can change, but my life has been turned around, so my advice is don't think about the side effects just give it ago, i also take 10mls Methatrexate each week as well. I am well aware it can all go wrong just as quickly, but i am making the most of it while i can.
Good luck if you decide to give them a try.
