I have been taking weekly injections of abatacept for 8 weeks has anyone noticed a dramatic change in weight? Look like 6 months pregnant.

Just had 12th injection this morning. It does look like I have more of a 'pot belly' than usual and did not think I had been eating anything extra although movement is again restricted due to inflammation and pain. Has abatacept worked for you yet? I had a good response during the first few weeks and thought finally this might be the one but not doing as well now.

Some weeks I'm ok then next I can hardly move. I've been on enbrel, humira, and golimumab. But was badly affect with side affects with them. Not so much with abatacept. Except the weight gain.

hi Katyrm I have been on methotrexate for 7 years, at first slowly putting on weight that would not move no matter how much exercise or dieting I did, then 12 months ago in 1 week put on over 6kgs, I looked 9months pregnant with twins, have had test after test, but to no avail, I particularly blow up after eating anything.

denvajade, maybe you should look at sceiolic , sorry about the spelling, hope you know what i mean. when i was first diagnosed i was tested for it too. i had six months of Abatacept infusions and had a great response. after a few set backs with injections, my hands wouldn't let me inject myself so i had to arrange to get a neighbour to do it for me. the drug is great for me, new life. on it now 8 months. i have to say i dont find any weight gain. in fact i have been able to loose my 'christmas weight gain'! not much help am i, sorry. x
