I’m a 58 year old man. I’ve worked as a surgeon most of my adult life. I’m interested in donating one of my kidneys and the small lobe of my liver. I’d like to find someone deserving (any child) who may benefit from this. I’m not a transplant surgeon so I’m a bit new to this. My understanding is that living donors for liver can make excellent donors for children in need of liver transplants because of size compatibility. Perhaps a large 6 foot two man’s kidney may not be a good fit for a child and I recognize this is a kidney forum.
If anybody wants to reach out I would like to hear some comments on the process. I am OK with simply donating to the person in highest need but do believe that children should be put first on the list regardless of transplant policy. This is after all about giving life and nothing can give as much as helping a child survive. I live in Northern California.

Reach out to closest Transplant Center, maybe Duke? Ask to speak with the head of Transplant program. Let them know what you've said here. You can do directed donation to a specific person. Lots of opportunities. Thank you for being willing to donate.Blessings
