Wired?

I get wired quite a bit. Not everyday but most days. It feels like I am buzzing and it is a very uncomfortable feeling. Should I be talking to my doctor? I am 6 weeks post-op. When I am out grocery shopping and this feeling comes over me, it sends me rushing to the bathroom. In turn I end up exhausted. Your thoughts?

Congrats on your transplant!Yes, always talk to your doctor regarding any issues you are having. They can't help if they don't know. Since you are only 6 weeks out, your body is trying to adjust to your new meds. If you are taking Prednisone, steroids, that can be why you feel "wired". You just had major surgery and your immunosuppressants slow your healing process too.

If I learned anything from my whole kidney journey is to always discuss problems and issues with my transplant center. The first couple of years I had the dose of my meds changed several times before I got on right dose for me.

We are all different, so what works for me, may not for you.

I am now 21+ years post transplant! My 2nd chance at Life came on Oct 15, 1999. Live LIFE!

Thank you for responding. Boy! Between the prograf and the prednisone this is rough! When I am wired and have the tremors in my hands and my legs feel weak, I am left exhausted. I will see my Dr. this upcoming Thursday and I will discuss it . I appreciate you sharing your experience. And congratulations on 21+ years!

Many of these side effects do get better with time - by 6 months post transplant if not before. My doctors did adjust the dose of my meds that made things a lot more manageable. I had horrible diarrhea at first, but once my dose was lowered, and doctors found that I was having a reaction to generic. I have taken Myfortic (cellcept) and Neoral for the last 18 years - name brand immunosuppressants. A few years back my pharmacy tried to give me generic for Myfortic and immediately had a reoccurrence of my GI issues. Something to keep in mind too.Best of luck at your appt. Keep me posted how you are doing.
