How long ago did you have your kidney transplant? And have you been on steroids since? I don't know that much about AVN but know that one of the causes can be from taking steroids. I was on prednisone after my transplant and was able to stop it after 10 years post transplant. I was showing beginning stages of osteoporosis. That was 8 years ago and now have no signs of the bone issues that were present then. This of course was not AVN, but was a weakening of my bones due to the prednisone.

For me, getting off the steroids was done slowly by my transplant team. And if there had been any changes in my creatinine, the doctors would have put me back on it.

Good luck to you!

I think you need to talk with your nephrologist/transplant team about your AVN. Maybe your ortho doctor needs to send your results to your nephrologist/transplant team so they know what is going on. Maybe they can come up a plan together that will help manage your symptoms and treatment of AVN. You can always call and talk with your nurse or transplant coordinator about all of this and she can always request the results from ortho?

Thinking of you and wish you the best with this! Let me know how it goes with the nephrology team?

Not what you're looking for?
