Pregnancy and transplant : Can I get... - Kidney Transplant
Pregnancy and transplant
my daughter was told not possible to get pregnant whilst on all the rejection drugs. "they" were wrong, as my 30 yr old grand daughter can attest to. It wasn't easy for either my daughter or the baby, but it can be done.
Yes you can. I’ll be 3 year post transplant July 8, 2018. My doctors have given the thumbs up to start working on baby number 2. I was blessed to have a baby while on dialysis. This time I’ll be having a baby post transplant. My doctor has already changed my medication so whenever we do get pregnant then everything is in place.
I have had 4 children since my kidney transplant! 2 of the 4 are twins...needless to say I am done with getting pregnant and had my tubes tied after the twins. They are 22 and my other 2 children are 26 and 27.
I was transplanted and have had a baby. She is 4. So, yes, you can. You need to talk to your doctors to get on the "safer" medication and start finding a high risk OBGYN. But it is possible.
Also - you can call and talk to the National Transplant Pregnancy Regitstry. They will have lots of information. transplantpregnancyregistry...
