does anyone with stage 3 ckd experience severe dry mouth?
dry mouth: does anyone with stage 3 ckd... - Kidney Disease
dry mouth
I have both dry eye and dry mouth, but mine is from Sjogren's syndrome and that is from my rheumatoid arthritis not my kidney disease. Maybe other's on here have it . I would discuss it with your doctor. Good luck.
You also might want to discuss dry mouth with your dentist. My hygienist advised that I use Biotene and it has helped.
YES! I use biotene in the mornings to lubricate my mouth, along with chewing sugar free gum or sugar free candy to keep my mouth moist throughout the day. I also have the dry eyes. After ruling out everything else, we surmise that it's related to my ckd
I wake with terrible dry mouth. Mine is from my cpap
Mine is from sjogrens and medications. Never heard of dry mouth from ckd why would you think that?
because I have gone to every specialist available to me and I still haven't gotten an answer as to why I have chronic dry mouth. I do have CKD and I was just throwing the question out there. I do not have sjogrens.
I am stage 3b CKD, have had dry mouth and dry eyes for a long time. I recently had an autoimmune panel, saw a rheumatologist who said I don't have Sjogren's or rheumatoid arthritis. I have high antibodies associated with lupus, but don't have lupus. He said those antibodies were related to my Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, but did not explain. At any rate, it seems to be a combination of several things that are causing my dry eyes and dry mouth, possibly including the chronic kidney disease. That according to my primary doctor, and some research I've done on my own. Our kidneys don't live in their own separate state. Everything in our body is tied together, and with aging, all systems start to decline. My eye doctor told me that dry eyes and mouth can just be part of aging. On the other hand, my husband has high blood pressure, diabetes, has had a heart attack, and has a rare lymphoma. He has no problems at all with dry eyes or dry mouth. Sometimes a direct cause cannot be found for dry mouth, and the best thing to do is to try all of the available remedies, including sipping water throughout the day. I brush, floss and use Act dry mouth twice a day. I always carry a water bottle with me, and I also have Altoids nearby at all times. I cannot use any of the sugar free gum, mints, or patches for dry mouth because I have irritable bowel syndrome, and I am particularly sensitive to xylitol and sorbitol. If you don't have any issues with those two sweeteners, you can try sugar free gum and candy, and maybe give Xylimelts a try. You put them on the roof of your mouth overnight, and they help keep your mouth from drying out. Also be sure to see your dentist twice a year if you still have your teeth. The worst part of dry mouth is what it does to your dental health. I've fought hard and long to keep my teeth, and continue to do all I can to that end. I wish you the best of luck in finding relief for your dry mouth. It's not fun to live with.
For me whenever I have sugar free hard candy I get it.
