varicose veins, after a day at work the leg swells up, have to put my leg up to reduce swelling dr say i must pay for treatment any advice

Change doctors! You are entitled to treatment under the NHS. Leg swelling can have many different causes - I get it too and have researched thoroughly. You need to have the swelling investigated, it may be simple water tablets will be enough or it may be something else, whatever the cause you are entitled to the treatment under the NHS - unless you are not eligible for NHS treatment at all due to coming from outside the EU. x
