NHS England: A Call to Action
NHS Travel Inoculations. My local G.P demands £30.00 to £40.00 per jab in CASH. Is there any alternative to this extortion?

I don't think so. I thought you only paid for the prescription charge, I may be wrong. Try phoning PALS they may help
My GP surgery charges for Travel injections but not all of them, it is dependant on what the you have, we paid cash as well.
There are some inoculations our surgery won't provide at all - mainly those for unusual or far flung places. We have to travel to a central surgery in Worcester which manages the injections & the associated paperwork. I presume this is because I live in a rural community. Until last month those patients who pay for their prescriptions had to pay in cash in full (for each item). We are now catching up as they take cards (I'm not sure about cheques).
Who do you think pays for the jabs? Do you think the surgery gets them free? Well I'll tell you they don't and they certainly don't make a profit from giving travel vacs. It's your choice to have them,
Deebee 11 I agree with you if you can afford to go abroad you can afford to pay for the iinoculations
Why cash it seems a bit odd , cowboy builders use this method to try and beat the tax man
Yes, one would expect better from doctors who are supposed to be professional people, not cowboys.
You could check out this issue with your local health authority
Hello
I thought these jabs were given at practice free or you had to pay for the prescription and take it to the surgery and it was given by the nurse. If this is not the case British Airways had a Medical Centre in London, if they charge it may be less there
GOOD LUCK
BOB
Just out of interest - why do you think travel inoculations should be free? It is a luxury to travel to a place where jabs are required (unless you are working for a charity - in which case I am sure they will be happy to supply). However I do think that we all need to think about how we use the finite resources of the NHS. If you can afford it, why shouldn't you pay? The only alternative is that we all pay through higher taxation but I don't see much evidence of people voting for higher taxes, and I am not really sure I want to pay for your jabs anymore than you want to pay for your own.
GP surgeries are not shops! Why would a small practice have a card machine where they would have to pay fees. Travel centres like B.A do charge and charge more than your surgery. Agree totally if you can afford to travel then you must also think about further costs such as injections. You don't mind paying for the holiday or insurance so why expect everything free from the NHS. That's why it's in such a mess
